Residential Gate Specialist
We are seeking a motivated sales representative to lead the development of our residential gate department from the ground up, with a primary focus on chain link, ornamental gates, and wood fill frames, including slide gates, rolling gates, and double drives. This role involves collaborating with our fabricating partners to provide high-quality standard gate solutions, with custom options available if requested. The role also includes nurturing existing customer relationships and actively seeking new business opportunities to meet sales targets. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with up to 2 Saturdays (7:00 AM to 12:00 PM) during the spring season. Candidates with experience or knowledge in residential gate systems are highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Drive Gate Department Growth:
- Take ownership of building the residential gate department from scratch.
- Collaborate with fabricating partners to develop a reliable supply chain for gate products.
- Establish and maintain standards for product quality and customer service in the gate department.
- Sales Focus on Residential Gates:
- Serve as the primary sales expert for residential gate products.
- Provide tailored recommendations to customers on gate solutions based on their needs.
- Lead efforts to expand the company’s market share in residential gates.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with key customers.
- Proactively engage with new and existing customers to promote gate products and services.
- Maintain regular follow-ups with customers to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
- Product Knowledge and Take-Offs:
- Continuously update and expand knowledge on gate products, including materials and specs.
- Provide accurate and timely take-offs for gate projects to help customers plan their installations.
- Client Outreach and Networking:
- Reach out to new customers weekly, ensuring at least 10 meaningful conversations with potential or new clients.
- Attend trade shows, industry events, and networking opportunities to build relationships and promote the company’s gate solutions.
- Quoting and Order Management:
- Prepare and deliver timely, accurate quotes for residential gate projects.
- Follow up on quotes to close sales and meet revenue targets.
- Ensure smooth order processing and delivery in coordination with logistics.
- Collaboration and Cross-Department Coordination:
- Work closely with the yard, delivery, and marketing teams to ensure seamless service.
- Partner with the marketing team to develop campaigns for promoting the gate department.
- Liaise with fabricators to ensure timely production and delivery of gate orders.
- Continuous Learning and Improvement:
- Participate in ongoing product, sales, and personal development training.
- Attend at least one self-improvement course or industry event per year, company-sponsored.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitor offerings.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience or strong knowledge in residential gate systems, including slide gates, rolling gates, and double drives.
- Ability to build and manage a department from the ground up.
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Self-motivated and driven to achieve goals in a fast-paced environment.
**We offer about 2 weeks of paid time off per year, increasing to 3 weeks after 2 years of employment.
